Things are just too expensive today for you NOT to take advantage of the big after-the-holiday-sales. It is hard to do so because many people have spent their money already, but it really pays and is like an investment for the future to buy holiday merchandise for the next year NOW.

Of course the mainstays for holiday savings during the sale weeks in December and January are

  • Ornaments and lighting,
  • Holiday greeting cards,
  • Wrapping paper and supplies for wrapping like ribbon, bows, scotch tape, glue, and gifts tags.

But, there are other ways to take advantage of sales after the holidays.

  • You can get up to 75% savings on apparel. Pick up two or three like items and think about other gift-giving occasions like Mother’s Day and birthdays.
  • Regular household items like Kleenex or candy or even coffee may be wrapped in holiday packaging. These, too, will be discounted.

Be sure to check all kinds of stores.

  • Drug stores can have terrific savings on ornaments, decorations, lights, and cards.
  • Furniture stores will have sales.
  • Online stores have great markdowns, and coupon sites will show big discounts.
  • Don’t forget to check out big box stores like Wal-Mart.
  • Dollar stores will have two-for-one sales.
  • And, toys stores will have good sales.

Stick with some general good sense ideas when shopping after-holiday sales.

  • Don’t shop without a list. You might end up buying things that you don’t need because of the good prices.
  • Consider stocking up on holiday sale items to sell on eBay next year.

The short and the simple is stock up now and save.
